Text Box: Completed September, 2009 - This craftsman style lakehouse is situated on beautiful Lake Santeetlah in Robbinsville. The biggest challenge for this home was the site. When we first drove up, we almost kept going thinking it wasn’t even possible to get a home in there. But we had both our concrete guy and our excavator guy with us and we went in and made a plan to fit it in there. Accurate surveying kept us (just barely) within the required setbacks from the neighbors. And you’ll even notice that a portion of the back deck had to be cantilevered as there was no place to put the post (it hangs slightly over the water).
Our goal was to keep the home higher up on the lot to preserve the curb appeal. The effect was quite a large deck structure on the lakeside of the home. However, the three levels of decking will be the emphasis for the use of the home which will, of course, center around the lake.
We had to install a temporary road down near the homesite just to get materials down there. At the end of the project, this road was removed and a walking path and street level parking area was installed.
As you can see, the inside of the home is beautiful. Brazilian cherry flooring, knotty cherry cabinets and an amazing master bathroom are the highlights. The exterior features fiber cement siding in a very natural, woodsy color scheme with decorative trusses in both the front and rear.
